Just in case you may have missed it last week, I had a very quick anonymous survey to find out how many are still following the challenge. I wanted to give one more week to poll the readers to make sure this is the most effective use of time to provide technology tools to meet your needs. Just let me know if you are still reading and keeping up with the challenge below. This week's post follows below the poll. Our district subscribes to World Book online which provides students with a safe and easy way to conduct research on topics with a kid friendly interface. The program works on both computers and iPads and allows for students to search at different levels. There is a Kids search as well as a Student search. To help students at different reading levels, the different searches are a great way to enable all students to look up and research information at their reading level. This is also a much safer way to search than using Google which can sometimes yield some less than desirable results. This service will work only at school at this website: http://www.worldbookonline.com/. Outside of an EVSC building, this link will ask you login. The ICATS have some additional information about using World Book at this site: http://www.evscicats.com/resources/worldbook/index.html. Navigate over to World Book today and consider some ways your students can use this tremendous resource in your classroom. Download the QuickVoice app from the iTunes store - Click Here This quick anonymous poll will help me begin to plan future posts and prizes.
Click Here to learn how to update your iPad to iOS if you have not. Some Ideas for these tools:
This week's tool is an app called Nearpod and can be found at www.nearpod.com or downloaded in the itunes store to your ipad at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nearpod/id523540409?mt=8 Nearpod allows a teacher to present a lesson with slides, assessments, and interactive pages that are delivered to all student iPads at the same time. The teacher can create a lesson or find pre-made Nearpod lessons already created by other educators. Sign up for a free account today and get started making your own Nearpod lesson. Check out this video to see how teachers in grades K-12 are using Nearpod. Some uses to consider:
Check out tons of great resources for Evernote here: http://www.livebinders.com/play/play/245623 Remember: Your account will sync with Evernote computers so you can access your info anywhere by going to http://www.evernote.com.
Some uses to consider:
Click here to schedule a coaching time with me if necessary. No one celebrates the holidays quite like the French! OK, so that was a lame attempt to try to justify playing with PhotoBooth backgrounds to create this video. Did anyone really believe I was in France? You can make a video from France too with PhotoBooth on your Mac! |
